FAQ

This is the place for answers. We are receiving lots of questions about the market. We will answer to the best of our ability and hopefully to your satisfaction. We welcome questions, keep them coming! Ask away so we can fine tune and serve up our best market to our great community. This market is a social experiment and the sky is the limit. My hypothesis: we will become a hot spot of a meeting place and many connections will be made that will contribute the amazing quality of life we enjoy in our neck of the woods. Tell us what you want and we’ll do our best to get it for you!

Question: I live in Bixby Knolls and would love to have a local farmer’s market but only if the produce is organic. Are any of the vendors growing certified organic stuff?

Answer: Organic farming practices vs certified organic is a question you may want to ask the farmers directly. They cannot post organic if they are not “certified” but being certified is not the only way to be organic. It’s a good question and we will post information about the agriculture industry and the nuances of the laws. Los Angeles Times Food Editor and Long Beach resident Russ Parsons speaks to the issue of “organic” here.

Question: How do I become a sponsor of the Long Beach Sunday Market and what is that going to run me?

Answer: Great question! We are offering several ways to sponsor the market and if you have any other ideas throw them out there. The thing we need the most right now are the weekly sponsors. Our basic cost to unlock the gate and open the restrooms is $350 every Sunday. We are HAPPY to pay that fee for the use of the Longfellow campus. We are THRILLED to have the use of real bathrooms, and the kindergarten playground, and the lunch benches and the east playground for parking. We are grateful that the school district sees our vision for supporting the schools and is allowing us the use of the campus. That said, for $350 you can be named the sponsor of the week, and for $75 you may also purchase a compostable bio-banner (no vinyl!), with your family’s name or your business’ name inserted in to the market’s sunflower graphic – and will be displayed on the fence along Bixby Road.  You may also choose the date of the Sunday Market you will sponsor to coincide with a business promotion or a day that you can attend with your marketing materials to pass out. The earlier you commit the better your chances are of getting that perfect date on the calendar. Fill out the contact form on the “about” page subject line “sponsor”.
