Tomorrow is Foodie Funday at the Farmers Market!

March 27, 2010

After a successful kick off of our first Chefs at the Market events, we are excited to announce our next cooking workshop with Delius Restaurant’s Chef Louise Solzman on the 28th of March.  Come and join us for this educational and entertaining event and an opportunity to meet Chef Solzman.

Food is a passion and an art for Louise Solzman. She has been cooking as long as she can remember, and now works to rave reviews as Executive Chef at Delius Restaurant in Signal Hill, California, that she operates with her husband, Dave, the General Manager/Sommelier.

Connections between food, family, and fun go back to Louise’s childhood. She began her culinary experience at a young age by helping her “mum” prepare for dinner parties at their home in Cambridge, England. In 1990, after college, she left England to work on the luxury cruise ship, Crystal Harmony, where she met her husband and business partner, Dave Solzman. Five years later, anxious to get back on land, she applied her talents to the catering industry where she worked as Kitchen Manager for a catering company in Culver City, California.

Turning their long time dream into a reality, Dave and Louise purchased Delius Restaurant in 1996 and successfully operated the popular Long Beach Boulevard facility as a strictly prix fixe operation for over 10 years.

Extending the dream, they recently created the modern new Delius Restaurant on Cherry Avenue in Signal Hill in 2007, expanding the operation to include a main dining room with an à la carte menu in the front of the house, a full cocktail and wine bar, and, of course, carrying on the tradition, the intimate prix fixe dining room. There is also a very private Wine Cellar, seating up to six people, featuring a window on the chef’s cooking station in the kitchen for those who enjoy watching their multi-course meal being prepared.

Chef Louise is inspired by tastes from all over the world and carefully plans the weekly menus with emphasis on foods in season as well as the changing trends in dining. She is assisted by an experienced and efficient staff. Even though Louise is busy in the kitchen most of the evening, that doesn’t stop her from popping out to visit with the guests every now and then to see how they are enjoying the meal.
